Privacy notice
Last updated 13 October 2026
This notice explains what personal information cruitme collects, why, who it’s shared with and what your rights are. cruitme is run by Raymond Doyle, based in Bo’ness, Scotland, who is the data controller. Contact: hello@cruitme.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password, and, if you use it, your Google account ID. If you turn on two-factor sign-in, the key your authenticator app uses.
- Your CV: the text of the CV you upload, so it can be tailored to jobs. We keep the text, not the original file.
- What you do on cruitme: the IT categories you choose, your saved searches, the jobs you shortlist, pass on or mark as applied, the job adverts you paste in, and the tailored CVs and cover notes made for you.
- Your plan: which plan you’re on. If you pay, Stripe gives us a customer reference and the state of your subscription. We never see or store your card details.
- If you post jobs (Platinum): the job details you enter, including the contact address for applications, and how many people shortlisted each job.
- Technical details: when you last signed in, and a record of each time a CV was tailored (for the daily limit and to keep costs in check). Our web host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security.
- If you register interest on cruitme.com: your name, email, and any company or message you add.
Why we use it
- To run your account and the service you asked for: showing jobs, keeping your shortlist and tailoring your CV. (Lawful basis: providing the service you signed up for.)
- To keep cruitme secure and stop misuse, such as approving new accounts and limiting sign-in attempts. (Legitimate interests.)
- To email you about your account: confirming your address, password resets and approval. We don’t send marketing emails.
- If you turn on a job alert for a saved search: one email a day listing new jobs that match it, only when there are some. Every alert email has a link to turn it off, or use the bell on the saved search.
Who we share it with
- Krystal Hosting (UK) hosts cruitme and sends its emails.
- Anthropic provides the AI that tailors CVs. When you press “Tailor my CV”, your CV text and the advert are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API, which may process them in the United States. This only happens when you ask for it. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, data sent through its API isn’t used to train its models.
- Google, only if you choose “Continue with Google”, to confirm who you are.
- Stripe, only if you buy a paid plan, to take and manage payments. Stripe handles your card details under its own privacy policy.
cruitme never sends your CV to employers or agencies, and never applies for jobs for you. When you apply, you do it yourself on the employer’s or agency’s own site, under their privacy terms. Job adverts come from job boards such as Adzuna and Reed; they don’t receive your details from us.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, CV and activity until you delete your account, which you can do at any time on the Account page; everything is removed straight away. If a sign-up isn’t approved, we delete it within 90 days, and if an email address is never confirmed, within 30. Interest forms from cruitme.com are kept until cruitme opens, or until you ask us to remove them. To keep the site secure and working, we keep a log of errors and security events (such as repeated failed sign-ins, with the internet address they came from) for 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and object to how we use it. Email hello@cruitme.com and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
cruitme uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. Your filter choices are saved in your browser, not on our server.
